    Dominic Thomas is the founder and Principal of Solomon’s. He has been advising clients for over 17 years and formed the company in 1999. At the time we were one of only a handful of IFAs operating on a proper fee system.

    From the very beginning, we removed commission from protection products and created a “level playing field” for investments, charging the same fixed % across all new investments. It is easy to forget how radical this idea was at the time and how much money our clients have saved as a consequence. We also review investments and provide quarterly valuations with recommendations. This can add significant value to your portfolio and is charged at a modest 0.25% per quarter.

    In 2002 we introduced retainer fees for our services, largely due to client suggestions for spreading fees over a year. A by-product (after a year) is that this helps us to have a predictable income, providing additional financial stability to our own business growth.

    We have gradually grown since 1999, but always held to the principles of transparency, integrity and accountability in dealing with both clients and those within our industry. Our approach has always been to treat our clients fairly and we are delighted that the industry regulators (Financial Services Authority) have made this the platform for regulation. So we regard ourselves as pioneers.

    Our growth has been primarily due to clients recommending friends, family and colleagues, which is of course the very highest testimony.

    Mark Hall joined Dominic shortly after the firm was formed. He heads the mortgage services that we provide and frequently surprises us all with his ability to pull the proverbial rabbit from a hat, resolving all sorts of mortgage problems that confound most. Mark has been an IFA for over 18 years and previously worked as an Auditor, which is a valuable discipline that he brings to his work.

    Arthur Wynyard is our Senior Client Adviser, he joined the firm in 2001 having spent most of his working life within the financial services sector. Arthur’s experience and encouragement has been invaluable over the years, he takes particular responsibility for much of the protection work and general research that we do. There is little within financial services that Arthur has not seen before, he has surprised us all by his ability to constantly learn new tricks!

    We believe that our clients want impartial advice and that this is only possible to achieve by providing advice for a fee rather than a commission, much like any other professional. We are seeking long-term client relationships, built upon mutual trust, enabling us to create and provide a valuable service.

The firm was named after King Solomon, (allegedly the wisest person on earth at the time) who understood the value of wisdom when helping to guide others, choosing wisdom above wealth, power and happiness."
